Photography Project: Studio Portraits

 Today, we practised studio portrait techniques using continuous lighting and a solid background. We used a four-light arrangement, a white background, and a black background. I created a contact sheet using an online tool.


First, we used a white background with high-key lighting. I selected a few better photos to show.





Soft and even light, minimising deep shadows, high-key light with evenly lit background. The image is sharply focused on the subject. The subject's body is angled slightly away from the camera, with one shoulder closer.

We also looked at Jean Shrimpton by David Bailey, 1961. There are some similarities between photos.


Some core elements are similar, such as pose, lighting, and simplicity.
